ASUS prepares support for 192GB DDR5 memory for AMD AM5 . motherboards
Supports up to 192 GB of DDR5 Memory on AMD AM5 Platform, Latest ASUS Preps BIOS Firmware
Last week, we reported that AMD and their card partners are working on releasing the latest BIOS Firmware AGESA 1.0.0.7 24GB and 48GB memory modules, allowing up to 192GB Memory Capacity on existing AM5 motherboards (X670(E) / B650(E)).
The ASUS Technical Marketing Manager has now introduced initial support for up to 192GB of DDR5 memory running on the ROG STRIX X670E-E Gaming WIFI motherboard. The ASUS representative also shared a screenshot showing that the motherboard can boot into Windows 11 operating system without any problems. In the screenshot, we can see the motherboard running four Corsair Vengeance DDR5 memory sticks with 48GB capacity, 192GB total capacity running at DDR5-5200 speed.
Now ASUS has hidden the BIOS version they use for this motherboard and it is likely to be BETA AGESA 1.0.0.6 is shipped here or the BIOS firmware AGESA 1.0.0.7 is coming soon.So far, we've only seen ASUS list the latest AGESA 1.0.0.6 firmware, and it's being rolled out to 8 X670E motherboards. The official website lists BIOS 0925 based on AGESA 1.firmware 0.0.5c.
This is definitely a step up in offering up to 192GB of capacity on AMD AM5 cards. Intel's 600 and 700 series motherboards have received several BIOS updates and improved support for 24GB and 48GB of non-binary memory, so we expect similar support across other motherboards. next week AMD AM5 600 series motherboards.
While there is no word on the actual release schedule for the new BIOS, our sources have mentioned that it will be available from different motherboard vendors in April or next month. , so stay tuned for more information.
As we all know, some Intel 600 and 700 series motherboards already support non-binary memory. This type of memory includes non-standard capacities like 24 GB, 48 GB or 96 GB Interestingly, on the ROG forums one can find a screenshot of Raja working for ASUS Tech Marketing, which shows apparently support for loading non-binary memory also appears on the X670E platform.
Screenshot confirms that ASUS ROG STRIX X670-E will support four 48 GB of memory in four slots, which is non-binary memory larger than 32 GB but smaller than 64 GB. The system is equipped with four 48 GB Memory Modules, each dated at 2600 MHz (5200 MT/s).Together, they offer a capacity of 192 GB, which is confirmed by the information displayed by the operating system. This also confirms that the system boots correctly in Windows.
