: The Thrilling Sequence of Events in GTA V

A Journey Through Los Santos

 The events of Grand Theft Auto V are arranged like a high-budget action trilogy, full of intense moments and dramatic shifts. From a tragic mistake in the past, the journey unravels into a massive, criminal  conspiracy entailing the highest levels of government and the lowest depths of the underworld. Understanding the sequence of these events is key to appreciating the masterpiece Rockstar Games created.

 The Prologue: Where Everything Went Wrong

The story commences with a daring heist in Ludendorff, North Yankton. While making an escape, Michael Townley gets shot, while another member of the crew, Brad, gets killed. Trevor Philips flees, thinking that his best buddy Michael is dead; however, this was a setup, as Michael made a deal with FIB agent Dave Norton, who would arrange for him to fake his own death and begin a new life in Los Santos, away from his previous crimes.

Years later, Michael is living a hollow life of luxury. A timeline for the film really begins when Michael catches a young repo man, Franklin Clinton, attempting to steal his son’s vehicle. Rather than making an example out of him, Michael recognizes something in the young man and will go on to take Franklin as his partner in crime, particularly after accidentally destroying a mansion owned by a major player in the local narcotics trade and having to come up with the millions of dollars to compensate

The Return of Trevor Philips

The news of a sophisticated robbery at a jewelry store in the city of Los Santos spills over into the desert, where he lived in exile. Recognizing the "style" of the heist as belonging to Michael, he understands he was betrayed. His entry into the story creates a significant shift in the events of the story, as well as the chaos he creates and the answers he seeks regarding the events in North Yankton all those years ago.

Working Under the FIB’s Shadow

As these three combine, the story takes a political turn. Unscrupulous FIB agents, led by Steve Haines, force them to carry out illegal duties by blackmailing them. These acts include breaking a high-value target out of a government building and stealing a secretive chemical weapon. In the process, the protagonists are caught between government agencies, making every mission a survival mission from the more dangerous opponents than criminals.

The Climax: The Big Score

The final objective the characters work towards throughout the game is "The Big Score," a huge robbery of the Union Depository. The event is the biggest heist in the franchise's history, involving tons of gold and a complex escape. The characters achieve great success from the completion of the mission, as they accumulate more money than they could have ever imagined; however, they also bring their enemies right to their doorstep

The Final Resolution and The Three Paths

The sequence of events is closing with Franklin being pressured by all enemies to kill Michael or Trevor. The last decision will determine the fate of all three characters. However, in the "Deathwish" ending, which is considered to be the real ending of the game, all three protagonists gather one last time to take rid of all their enemies, including the character of Steve Haines and billionaire businessman Devin Weston, freeing themselves and ensuring themselves a future within the city of Los Santos.
